Meet our Musical Director
Mr Ian Young
Ian began his musical journey at the age of seven in a family with a rich brass band heritage. Starting on the cornet, he eventually transitioned to the tuba, playing with several local bands.
In 1999, Ian seized the opportunity to embark on a rewarding career in conducting. Over the past 27 years, he has led the Wycombe Band, Ellesborough Silver Band, Marlow Town Band, and Durnovaria Silver Band.
Renowned his innovative approach, Ian transforms each band he directs into a space where musicians can explore a variety of musical genres while enjoying a relaxed atmosphere.
Ian states, “I am delighted to take on the Daytime Brass Dorchester; the bands ethos aligns perfectly with my belief in players enjoying themselves and sharing performances with a broader audience.
